PADI Tec Sidemount Courses

The Tec Sidemout Course is usually run in conjunction with the PADI Tec Rec programs but can also be run as an addition for those technical divers who are already certified and want to cross over from backmounted set ups.

PADI sidemount training

If you are adding this certification into the PADI Tec Deep course then you will do the Tec Deep program (Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50) in sidemount with an additional 2 dives added to the courses.

If you are doing the PADI Tec Sidemount certification as a stand alone course then we do 5 dives over 4 days, an evening of theory and gear configuration then an evening in the pool and then 4 training dives out at some of our open water sites around Auckland.

Benefits of technical diving in sidemount are:

  • Greater access to overhead environments
  • Better gas management
  • Easier transport of equipment
  • Easier gear configurations
  • Simpler entries and exits
  • Improved trim and buoyancy control

If you would like to book onto a technical sidemount course you will need to be a technical diver or enrolling in technical diver training, alternatively you can go for our recreational sidemount course if you are only diving in sidemount recreationally.
