First steps as a newly qualified instructor

I finished my diploma of professional scuba instruction with Auckland Scuba in May 2017 and within a few weeks I had managed to land a job with the very people who had taught me. I couldn’t think of a better way to get started in the industry. Being an instructor isn’t just all about the diving, it’s organising paperwork, store sales, filling cylinders, equipment servicing and heaps more. That’s why I love what I do, because it’s such a variety of jobs and everyday is different. The diploma in professional scuba instruction with Auckland Scuba set me up for all of it. They didn’t just teach us the basics, they taught us each different aspect of the job to a high quality standard and how to follow correct procedures consistantly. I’ve already taught a number of PADI courses and have continued learning more about myself as a diver and the industry as a whole. I’m so thankful to all of the staff at Auckland Scuba for really going above and beyond inital basic training and truely setting us up for a fantastic career in the scuba diving industry. I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
